Benton Alexander Saves A Life

Image

At the RPD it is our mission to protect and serve residents. On December 8, we got a little help from UPS employee Benton Alexander. As he was on his usual delivery route he noticed an elderly woman who was devoid of proper winter clothing and shivering.

Even though the woman persisted that she did not need assistance, Mr. Alexander was able to coax her into his vehicle and bundle her up with his own cold-weather gear. He then contacted 911 and waited for assistance to arrive. The Richfield Police Department was later informed that the woman had been outside for an extended period of time, had frostbite on her hands and feet and was afflicted with dementia. Thank you to Mr. Alexander for his selflessness and willingness to help someone in need.

Without his intervention into the situation, more than likely the woman he assisted would have suffered further injury. We would also like to give a shout out to Officer Tianna Wegner of the Richfield Police Department who was one of the first people on the scene and provided additional assistance to both Mr. Alexander and the woman.
