THE CITY OF PEEKSKILL IS UNFAIR TO
PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES
Teamsters working in the City of Peekskill Department of Public Works are
here to take a stand against City management for unfair treatment.
We are the people who clean your streets, pick up your trash, and remove
snow from the roads to ensure your safety. We are the people who were
unable to work from home during the Covid 19 shutdown and were exposed
to Covid at work.
We are the people who respond in the middle of the night to plow your roads
while everyone else is warm and asleep. We are the ones who come out to
repair water main breaks in the middle of storms so you can have water and
fire fighting capabilities. We are the ones who leave our families to respond
to the City's needs on holidays, our children's bithdays, and during our
children's school events.
We take pride in our work and serving the community.
We have been without a contract for several years, and have not received a
wage increase since 2017. We pay our fair share of the cost of our benefits
based on what we earn. We cannot accept a wage increase that costs us
more in medical premiums.
The Town has given other employees substantial increases since 2018, but
offered us minimal increases for the same years. If other employees can get
fair raises, why can't we? we work nard, and as Peekskill grows, so does
the workload. The City has not increased the staffing level, but has
increased the amount of work we perform.
All we are asking for is fair and equal treatment. We live here and pay
taxes, Bbut cannot afford to stay in the community without a fair salary
increase.
Please support us and contact the CIty Manager and Common Council. e
them to do right hing for the employees.
WE ARE APPEALING ONLY TO THE PUBLIC. WE ARE NOT SEEKINGTO
INDUCE ANY PERSON TO EASE WORK OR REFUSE TO MAKE DELIVERIES
