๐ต๐ทJust a little education because I often hear that all Puerto Ricanโs do is use government assistance. Letโs break this down with facts and not words from people who have never lived there. ๐คโ๐ป
I am Puerto Rican ๐ต๐ท, an island in the middle of the ocean surrounded by water. But actually very beautiful waters. ๐
Oh, and we are Americans...๐บ๐ธ
Yes, American citizens. For more than 100 years, in fact.
We also speak Spanish and English. And we have served in the army of the US since 1917...
Yes really!
We received 22.5 million dollars ๐ต a year in social assistance and government grants; but we produce over 73 billion dollars for the US economy.
Why do we have two surnames?
Because women do not lose their last name when they get married and because we do not forget our mothers.
Our small island, surrounded by great waters, gives more members to military service than any other state of the US.
And we have astronauts๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐๐จ๐ฝโ๐, NASA ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ญ๐๐ฐ๐ญ๐จ๐ปโ๐ญ engineers, scientists ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ฌ๐ก๐งช๐งซ๐ฆ ๐งฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ปโ๐ฌ, judges of the supreme court of justice ๐ฉ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐จ๐ปโโ๏ธ, a gold medal receiver of honor ๐ฅ, 5 CROWNS OF MISS UNIVERSE ๐ธ๐ป๐; academy awards ๐, grammys ๐, tony awards๐, โฝ๏ธ๐๐โพ๏ธ๐ฅ๐พ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฒ and world-class artists ๐๐ฌ๐ค๐ง๐น๐ฅ๐ท๐บ๐ธ๐ป๐จ๐ญ, many doctors and nurses ๐ฉ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐จ๐ปโโ๏ธ, and many, many more distinguished citizens who call our beautiful little island home.
We are a beautiful and interesting mixture of blood; 34% Taino ๐ฆ๐ฝ, 33% European ๐ฑ๐ผโโ๏ธ and 33% African๐ง๐ฟ-which gives us an incredible drive to survive.
Nothing breaks our Spirit, nothing! ๐ค๐ผ
We are helpful, love to party ๐ถ๐๐๐๐ป๐ฅณ and we never give up. We help others, even those who come to help us. Its just how we are. ๐ช๐ผ
Scientifically supported in recent years as the genetic ethnic group that best represents the human race due to its extensive heritage of races. ๐๐ผ
Que viva Puerto Rico!
