WCPD / Patrol Division
A tale from the midnight tour:
At 4:14 a.m., the Real Time Crime Center broadcast an alert that a stolen vehicle was traveling on King Street in Rye Brook.
As a WCPD officer exited the Hutch at King Street to look for the vehicle, he observed two cars traveling toward him at a high rate of speed. He activated his lights to attempt a traffic stop. The vehicles split up -- one entered the northbound Hutch and headed into Connecticut, the other continued eastbound on King Street.
Our officer followed the vehicle on King Street and the driver would not pull over. The vehicle then turned on to various residential streets off King Street to try to give him the slip. In the vicinity of Robbins Roost and Rock Ridge Drive, the officer boxed the vehicle in. The two suspects climbed out the passenger-side door and fled on foot.
A foot pursuit occurred and multiple WCPD, Rye Brook and Harrison PD officers responded to the scene and established a perimeter. The search continued, including by County Police and Harrison Police with tracking canines.
A WCPD officer located one of the suspects and took him into custody. He is an 18-year-old Connecticut resident and he was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, a felony.
Rye Brook officers later found the second suspect and took him into custody. He is a 16-year-old and he will be charged as a juvenile.
The vehicle that was recovered is a 2021 Lexus that was stolen in Scarsdale.
Excellent teamwork by all agencies involved -- all while most of us were fast asleep!
