CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY: Israeli-Palestinian conflict enters 10th day as pressure builds for ceasefire and an end to the killing of innocent children and women....
STATEMENT: From #Yonkers State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh Calling For An Immediate Cease Fire In The Gaza-Palestinian, Israel Conflict
"The recent escalation of Military intervention and social upheaval has reached an unfortunate escalation causing enormous suffering to Palestinians and Israelis alike. The conflict which has raged on for nearly 75 years needs to be resolved diplomatically not militarily.
Assemblyman Sayegh was born in Jordan and is the 1st Jordanian - American elected to the NYS Assembly in 2018.
New York State and our Federal Constitution calls for the respect of individual rights and supports the principals of social justice. The enormous trauma and suffering has created a serious crisis undermining basic human needs and rights.
Housing, education and healthcare for the displaced by the bombings in the indiscriminate military intervention is both unwanted and unjust. Innocent people on both sides of the conflict are harmed and killed in the cross fire.
The United Nations and especially the Government of the United States must press the call for a cease fire and establish a mechanism to resolve their issues diplomatically. We must serve and lead in a fair and even-handed approach, gaining the trust and confidence of all parties to the conflict.
I support a Two- State Solution to this Middle Eastern conflict. I believe that the majority of both Israelis and Palestinians would agree on a Two-State concept; allowing both sides to live side by side in peace and harmony.
Both Palestinians and Israelis are similar and have much in common in social and cultural values. A peaceful solution to the conflict will expand economic development and collaboration among all the countries in the region, and will initiate renewed efforts to focus our regional and International efforts on addressing the urgent needs of those now suffering. It is time for all Americans to treat this conflict with urgency and recognize that all lives matter!"
